Dr. William McCorkle will discuss his recent trip to the makeshift migrant camp in Matamoros, Mexico that was created after
the MPP (Remain in Mexico) policy last year. Particular focus will be placed on the stories of those trapped in this camp, the
human rights and legal issues that this policy has raised, and the implications for citizens and educators in responding to this crisis.

Dr. McCorkle is an assistant professor of education at the College of Charleston. His research interests center on rights for immigrant students and immigration pedagogy particularly related to the American Southeast.
